How "Real-Time" is Google Earth street level photos???

I finally gave in to the urge to visit google earth and all it's extras... It's a pretty cool concept, even with the mixed feelings on privacy issues. I was even able to locate a friend's address, zoom to street level and even view his front door!

What I'd really want to know is; when was that picture taken? today, yesterday... Last week, last year? Also, is the refresh rate different by location?

ThanxHow "Real-Time" is Google Earth street level photos???
[b]The pictures were taken by a satellite of NASA and are in accordance with international rules and obligations. These pictures were taken on various occasion last year, and some of them were refreshed this year. I haven't really seen any of those pictures refreshed since i started using google earth but i read it in a blog. Sorry, can't quote the source :(
