How the google earth is made?

How do they made it? Specially the street view. I am so amaze about google earth. How the google earth is made?
Space and aerial images stitched together and put into a 3d model of a globe?

The street views are really just still images taken with a google car. Each car has probably 4 or 5 cameras that take panoramic images in a 360 degree angle.

The images are geotagged with GPS coordinates, and the Google server farm automatically assigns street names onto the images. I would assume their software is smart enough to recognise intersections and such, and will even automatically blur people's faces and car number plates. How the google earth is made?
Satellites mainly, and the street view was basically filmed. Google sent vans down more or less every street and there is several camera's on it. It's very confusing and amazing but it didn't take a whole lot of effort :)How the google earth is made?
A car with a 360 degree camera on top for the street view, and satellites for the rest.
