How do I get to see actual photos of homes on Google Earth?

I set up for street view but dont see close up. Someone had sent me a link to my gggrandfathers house in Cork and my computer imploded. I lost the link. I can get the satellite view but not the street level. I do the family tree and would love to find it again so I can print it out for the family recordesHow do I get to see actual photos of homes on Google Earth?
The only way is clicking on the archives...the square thingys for the pictures
